What’s stopping you?

Do you ever look at your life and tell yourself, “I am much better than this” “I can do so much better than this.” “There is more to me than this.”? If you don’t, then you’ve more or less pitched a tent and accepted your life for what it is. You actually shouldn’t pitch. There’s always the next level for you, but as you ascend “levels” in life, you begin to encounter obstacles and it’s easy to presume that, “well, I’ve achieved so-and-so, so it’s just fine to take a back seat now.” Naaahhh!!! You should stand up and defy your limitations.  Limitations will always be present, all sorts of things/people/situations/experiences will try your faith. Limitations are a reality that you cannot overlook but you can overcome, just like a runner on a hurdle course. He cannot deny the hurdles in front of him but he’s gunning for glory, so he must overcome every hurdle. So, what are some limitations that you’ve been encountering and entertaining? What are those things that are keeping you...

Who???

Who told you? Who told you that you're not pretty enough? Who lied to you that you're never going to amount to anything? Who told you that your past mistakes will forever mar your progress? Who told you that your voice can never bless anyone? Who told you that you dance offbeat? Ha! Who told you your write-ups were not impactful and could never go far? Who wrote you off? Who condemned you? Who made you feel less deserving of God's love because you fell short? Who laid a charge against you? Who crushed and perplexed your spirit? Who discouraged you? Who told you you couldn't do it? Who lied to you that your situation was insurmountable? Who told you the doctor's report was final? Who told you you could never graduate or get a Masters? Who??? Was it your mind? Your friend? Your boss? Your parents? Your guardian? Your abuser?  Who told you you were ugly? Who told you cancer would kill you just because it runs in your family? Who told you that you would forever be defin...

Your "little" is loaded.

I recently had a baby! He's the most precious, priceless, beautiful little human. His curly hair. Brown eyes. Sweet giggles. Heartwarming smiles. Perfection. I recall the gestation season and I remember how I always drew myself back to the reality that this child was formed from something extremely microscopic. Tiny. Invisible to the human eye.  A seed. Well, in this case, a sperm cell, but essentially, that's what a sperm cell is - a seed . Sown into the rich "soil" of the womb. Something so little with the potential to become something so powerful, beautiful, impactful.  It's amazing how a little seed, when planted can go from being a tiny, dry, lonely element to becoming admired, sought after, glorious, magnificent. Mr Farmer knows better. Every seed in his hand holds the potential to the next harvest. Every seed in his possession has the power to become one hundred-thousand-million-billion seeds. But he has a part to play. He has to be faithful. He has to roll...

Dear December...

Hey everyone! Welcome to the most anticipated month of 2020 - December! Phew! While we know that this year has been nothing short of a roller coaster ride, we also know that we are preserved because it is the Lord's will and because His purpose for our lives is greater than any pandemic. Haha! Don't know about y'all, but I am just so grateful for this new month, what a lot of people popularly refer to as the "11th hour miracle month", and I know He is about to make His power known to you. As the days roll past, remember this: God still loves you, everlastingly. God still has a plan for your life. God kept you thus far for a cause, a purpose. God is very mindful of what you are going through, He is touched with the feeling of your season(s). God's word over your life will not return void come Dec 31st. God's promise to you is still as valid as the rising of the sun. God heard your every prayer this year. Yes. He heard you. God can still redeem the time for ...

Should I trust God for everything?

So many times, we tend to restrict God to specific aspects of our lives, especially the desperate times of our lives, like when we really need something, when the doctor gives a bad report or when you lose a job... you know those heart-wrenching, depressing times, right?  I've been there. Where it felt like, " Okay God, fix this area for me. " But when it came to other areas, you say, " Nah, no need to worry about that one God; I'll fix it myself. " Things like taking a bath, having a meal or even heading out to work don't require revelation or prayer. You know you have to do those. There are, however, other major moves in our lives where God is simply inevitable. You cannot do them without His leading and direction. Want to know why? Keep reading. As believers, making moves without God leaves you at the mercy of wavering and being tossed to and fro with every wind of doctrine, advice, counsel, suggestion or proposition, just like the waves of the sea.  ...

Remember, remember...

I remember. I remember those seasons when it seemed like everything around me was happening "without" me (or so it seemed). I remember being a part of so many successes in the lives of people around me, without being able to record a single success to my name (or so I thought). I remember how it felt to experience painful setbacks in seasons when everyone was "moving" forward. I remember not being excited about "explaining myself" to everyone who asked certain life-milestone questions that I had no concrete answers for. I remember soaking my pillow at night, for many nights. I remember sitting in church bodily but my mind had wandered off. I also remember... I also remember telling myself several times, "Adebimpe, no season lasts forever." I also remember waking up each morning committed to being strong and unfazed by my storms. I also remember being faint but having done all, still standing. I also remember being encouraged till I was numb to en...

Why are you reading the word?

Reading your bible is great, but not enough to swarm your heart with revelation knowledge. Let me explain. Reading is okay.... but, trust me when I say it is absolutely the most shallow mode of engagement of God's word. Why read when you can study? Why read when you can meditate? Why read when you can hear? Every scripture has a mouth. It is SAYING something to your spirit, not your mind. It's not a storybook. That's for excitement. It's not a magazine. That's for entertainment It's not a textbook. That's for worldly education It's not a catalogue. That's an articulated, illustrated database. It's not a pamphlet. That's a fleeting piece of information. It's not a poster or billboard. That's trying to get your attention It is the word of God, and unequivocally, God Himself ( John 1:1 ). That's why you have to embrace that God (His word) speaks to you (Matthew 4:4) . You are not reading just to get information. You are reading to ge...

Don't be too smart (II)

Hi reader, My thoughts and meditations regarding the last post have given birth to a "part 2"! Hope it blesses you like it blessed me. You know how a smartphone is literally your companion in almost everything? With the use of so many apps, it helps you tell the time, date, predicts the weather, navigates you around town, advises you on how to avoid traffic, keeps a track of your fitness journey, to mention a few. One that really baffles is the ability of a smartphone to anticipate what word you are about to type just by you typing the very first letter. Really?! That's smart, isn't it? The phone helps you by "assuming" what you want to say.  This, in a way, is how we presume things with God. We presume because we've heard the instruction, we know what He's about to say. We think because we " know " that scripture, we don't need to concentrate too much on the sermon the pastor is teaching, or that verse cannot have a deeper meaning than...

Don't be too smart

Sometimes, we're too intelligent for God. We presume we know so much in the world and about the world. We have gathered all forms of intellectual prowess regarding a myriad of topics. And we sorta kinda get puffed up with all that information, so much so that we build a wall that keeps out the knowledge that God's word gives. We lay what we know and what God says in His word side by side. We compare, somewhere in the nooks of our minds, which one could possibly be more "real." Which of these two are truer? The "words" I read, or the "world" I see? These ancient words or these Jet Age realities? The physical realm or the spirit realm? Right under the pastor's nose, we are contesting with what he is teaching. Intellectually trying to figure out whether it makes sense to us or not. Which begs the question, "where is your faith? " Where is your confident assurance? The bible instructs us exactly where our faith should stand. That your fai...

Welcome to the Refreshed Christian

Hi, I'm Adebimpe and I am so honoured to have you here. Staying in faith has always been a necessity for the believer, and what better season and time to fuel your faith than the times we are in.  2020 has proven to be quite the year of surprises with so many unexpected, mouth-opening happenings around the globe. As believers, we know these shakings are pointers to the truth that God's desire is for all men to be saved (1 Tim 2:4) and walk in the consciousness of their righteousness in every facet of life. And so, for this season and beyond what the world is currently facing with this pandemic and economic lockdowns, I put this together to help believers out there remember who they are, where they hail from and what His word assures, regardless of the tempest the world faces. We must be reminded that we are more than conquerors through Him, not through any solution proffered by man. I would love to have you join me for updates and would love more to have your comments too. ...
