What you want versus what you need

Take a moment to check out that title. Sometimes, we mix them both up. Wants and needs. We've heard several definitions of both. Let me make a simple reference to these, below. Wants are simply the things you desire to have, but not necessarily need. Needs are simply the things you must have to survive here on earth That said, let's take into account all the things you "want" in this life. You want a cool car, a posh house, a dream job or a thriving business. You want a tall, dark and handsome chap or a beautiful looking damsel. You want a flawless body. You want to spend your honeymoon in the most expensive suite at Burj Khalifa. You want to wear all the precious stones in the world on one hand. You want everything money can buy, and more. You want to visit Mars. You also want to go to Disneyworld, and while you're at it, you consider sky-diving or bungee jumping. Safari trips with real lions or open ocean diving with sharks. You also need a really expensive phon...

Building every area of your life, except....?

Our generation is so good at building.  Building a career. Building a business. Building a reputation steered in a certain direction. Building relationships. Engineers and architects would know better what it means to build. The details that go into the design stage, the effort that goes into the planning and the energy that goes into execution; each stage is a project on its own. So many people, especially millennials are excellent at building something. Motivational speakers will literally compel you to start something in your 20s. Society itself will make you innovative by force. Everything around you speaks to development. Start-ups are springing up everywhere. Students are pursuing additional degrees and certifications at a higher rate than during the days of our parents. Vocational/Non-academic occupations are equally scaling their models to embrace more professional and internationally acceptable standards. Innovation is at an all-time high! Robots are replacing people in ce...

Why so proud?

This is a straight-to-the-point blog post. Short. Spot on. Looking down on other people because you're in such a privileged position. Showing off a new car to friends and family. Taking bathroom selfies with your new iPhone 12 (or 13) so the triple-zoom cameras can reveal your iPhone status. Strutting around with your Jimmy Choos at work so everyone can see the red soles. Always the braggadocious one at every single get-together. Funny thing is, all these things are NOT pride.  So then, what is pride? Pride is anything that makes you disobey the word of God . God's word is clear about how we are to live as believers, but sometimes, the "little" knowledge we acquire puff us up to the extent that we fail to lean on the truest source of wisdom and life - Jesus. Imagine this - all the wealth of knowledge the world has to offer pales in superiority when placed side by side with the source of the truest, life-giving knowledge. Just wow! When you think your own ability is su...

Things won't always be like this...

It's a season. It has not come to stay. It has come to PASS. You won't always struggle. You won't always be broke. You won't always be unemployed. You won't always be homeless. You won't always be in debt. You won't always be frustrated with your issues. You won't always be weary. You won't always be tired. God knows the season you are in. Your health? You won't always be bound to that sickbed. Your health situation comes to an end. Your organs function rightly. Your body behaves as designed by God. Your flesh does not give in to the disease. Your finances? Your storehouse will never run dry. Your wealth will rise. Your barrel of meal and cruise of oil will never run out. There will always be meat for your household. Your 5 loaves and 2 fish will feed nations. Your gift? You will be favoured in high places. You will flourish in spite of the economy. You will excel in all your dealings. You will be sought after. Your gift paves way for you. Your f...

He hated me, but he was a liar...

I feel a strong need to share this. Some experiences just come your way to fortify you. I've healed now, but I hope this helps someone heal, too. Oh, by the way... long post alert. You need to read through to see what "he" lied about.  Many years ago, at the baby-steps stage of my career, I was so heavily talked down by "the" boss. I can't even describe how heavily. But, boy, it was intense. I had a line manager who was pleasant and ready to work with me because he believed in me, but the boss was the exact opposite. Read on... He would talk me down the moment I wasn't doing anything that yielded results "his" way. Openly say hurtful things to me. He would literally use the "f" word at me in departmental meetings. I would say "Good morning ( his name here )" but he would scan me from head to toe and walk past like I was a wisp of smoke. His hate/anger/disgust/whatever-you-want-to-call-it for me reeked so bad, my colleagues w...

Tired already?

2021 is here with tons of positive vibes and jolly good feels, in spite of the pandemic and its ripple effects. Some people hit the ground running. You? Maybe, maybe not. Either way, there's so much excitement about the calendar transition into a fresh trip around the sun, such that people downplay some existing issues and realities which still linger. Maybe you are/were affected. Maybe 2020 was really a bumpy year for you. Maybe you're one of those who got a pay cut, lost your job, worried about the next rent, your kids' school tuition, or even the basic day-to-day need of catering to your family's welfare.  I know someone really needs this.  The new year has rolled in, but not much has changed for you. 1st of January was just another day in the calendar for you. Today is the 12th day of the new year, and you already feel the year may take a similar route as last year. You may be tending towards frustrations and feels of disappointments. You may feel alone, hurt, misun...

Happy New Year! A gift for you...

Welcome to 2021, a beautiful new beginning! That we are alive and well to see the light of this new year is by the favour and grace of God. Isn't He faithful? Your answer is as affirmative as mine! We just sailed out of the troubled waters of 2020 and into a 2021 that is still relatively uncertain even though we have a sure word from God to get us through it. A great man of God once said, " we may not know tomorrow, but we know WHO holds tomorrow. " The Captain of our Salvation is at the wheels, that's for sure.  Here's a little gift from us to you. I pray this new year is your best year yet, in spite of what you ended 2020 with. I pray your new year blossoms into such beautiful and glorious manifestations of His glory in all that concerns you. I pray you rise higher than you ever have in all your endeavours. I pray you exceed and excel in everything you do. I pray you enjoy His favour and goodness this new year. I pray your way is made prosperous and you enjoy go...
