Building every area of your life, except....?

Our generation is so good at building.  Building a career. Building a business. Building a reputation steered in a certain direction. Building relationships. Engineers and architects would know better what it means to build. The details that go into the design stage, the effort that goes into the planning and the energy that goes into execution; each stage is a project on its own. So many people, especially millennials are excellent at building something. Motivational speakers will literally compel you to start something in your 20s. Society itself will make you innovative by force. Everything around you speaks to development. Start-ups are springing up everywhere. Students are pursuing additional degrees and certifications at a higher rate than during the days of our parents. Vocational/Non-academic occupations are equally scaling their models to embrace more professional and internationally acceptable standards. Innovation is at an all-time high! Why so proud?

This is a straight-to-the-point blog post. Short. Spot on. Looking down on other people because you're in such a privileged position. Showing off a new car to friends and family. Taking bathroom selfies with your new iPhone 12 (or 13) so the triple-zoom cameras can reveal your iPhone status. Strutting around with your Jimmy Choos at work so everyone can see the red soles. Always the braggadocious one at every single get-together. Funny thing is, all these things are NOT pride.  So then, what is pride? Pride is anything that makes you disobey the word of God . God's word is clear about how we are to live as believers, but sometimes, the "little" knowledge we acquire puff us up to the extent that we fail to lean on the truest source of wisdom and life - Jesus. Imagine this - all the wealth of knowledge the world has to offer pales in superiority when placed side by side with the source of the truest, life-giving knowledge. Just wow!
