I recently had a baby!
He's the most precious, priceless, beautiful little human. His curly hair. Brown eyes. Sweet giggles. Heartwarming smiles. Perfection.
I recall the gestation season and I remember how I always drew myself back to the reality that this child was formed from something extremely microscopic. Tiny. Invisible to the human eye.
A seed. Well, in this case, a sperm cell, but essentially, that's what a sperm cell is - a seed. Sown into the rich "soil" of the womb. Something so little with the potential to become something so powerful, beautiful, impactful.
It's amazing how a little seed, when planted can go from being a tiny, dry, lonely element to becoming admired, sought after, glorious, magnificent.
Mr Farmer knows better.
Every seed in his hand holds the potential to the next harvest. Every seed in his possession has the power to become one hundred-thousand-million-billion seeds. But he has a part to play. He has to be faithful. He has to roll up his sleeves, go out in the sun, till the ground, break open the soil and sow the seed. He has to return to water it, weed it and continue to keep watch. Even after there is a sprout, he cannot afford to relent. He must consistently care for the bud, keeping watch till its a full-blown harvest.
Hey reader. Let's bring it home before I lose you. What's that thing you have that you call "little?" A voice? A psalm you wrote? A poem? A dance? A piece of art? What's that "little" gift the Lord God gave you? How do you esteem it? How do you nurture it? Water it? Watch over it?
Your gift feels "little" because you've not watered it. Like the servant in Matthew 25:14-30, you hid it in the ground or "buried" it, rather than "sowed" it. Buried things are dead. They can never sprout. Hidden things can never be seen nor their impact ever felt. Ever.
And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine (Matthew 25:25)
On the other hand, what you sow will yield a harvest for you, like the Sower in Matthew 13(verse 3) who went forth to sow. He didn't keep his seeds to himself. He knew his "little" seeds were loaded.
Reader, your faith heroes/heroines didn't sprout overnight. They sowed. Watered. Prayed. Watched. Believed. And received the end of their faith because God gave them increase. Start from somewhere. A prayer. A word. A worship song. A faith accountability buddy. Don't leave the gift "hidden" away when it was meant to shine for all (Matthew 5:14).
Your little is loaded. Tell yourself that for as long as the sun rises from the east and watch that "little" bloom into fruition before your eyes.

Great. Thanks for this!
